Chooya — PRODUCT UPDATE PRESS RELEASE

It was on Monday, the 13th of April 2020, that we released an update on our platform (https://chooya.com.ng) which allows Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) to be able to create their own online stores and business profiles at no cost.

We are so excited about the feedback following this recent update. We appreciate everyone who reached out to congratulate and wish us well over the recent release. We are glad that a lot of people are sincerely interested in our success.

From the feedback gathered, a lot of people commended the user-friendliness and simplicity of the platform. Also reaching to us were lots of concerns over our business model and why our service is broadened and open for both suppliers and professionals. A few of them have questioned our capability to compete with top brands such as LinkedIn and Google.

In responding to some of the feedback, we would like to share that our business model is entirely different and unique from the likes of Google and LinkedIn. So, we are not in direct competition with either of them.

We carried out a series of market analysis to develop a model that is needed for the African market. Our target happens to be clusters of African SMBs across the traditional and local markets.

We want to help African SMBs to regain their trust over the internet, give them the power to strengthen their online presence and for their businesses to be more visible online.

A lot of people globally are scared of doing business with Africans over the internet (online) as a result of the daily increase in fraud cases associated with Africans. Also, most small business owners in Africa do not have the technical knowledge on how to get their business optimized and visible on the internet. From our market analysis, they can't even afford to hire the service of an SEO expert to support the growth and visibility of their business.

These are the two major problems African small businesses are facing today. These are the solutions our platform is offering African SMBs.

Practically, when someone creates an account on Chooya, their business profile is automatically indexed and enabled to be found through the Chooya Trade Search Engine. This means the business will become more visible online to consumers and buyers across the globe. More importantly, our platform helps optimize the business beyond our platform to boost its performance across other search engine platforms such as Google and Bing.

We have developed a built-in algorithm that powers the optimization process for all the businesses that sign up on our platform.

In the coming months, we will keep improving the algorithm by introducing advanced machine learning (ML) technologies.

Removing the technicality involved in improving internal and external aspects of African businesses in increasing their organic visibility for search engines is our first goal. And our algorithm does the magic.

Our next move is to work towards empowering consumers and buyers across the globe to regain trust in doing business with African SMBs online and offline.

In the next couple of days, we will be announcing the release of our trade search engine that would empower people to find anything, pay safely, and trade confidently with African suppliers and professionals.

The trade search engine will be limited to some specific locations as we will extend gradually to other locations in the future.

So, we encourage people who run legal businesses, sell goods, and/or render services to sign up on Chooya (create a store or business profile) to be able to leverage our platform to get their businesses optimized and gain more online visibility across platforms.
